As we celebrate Black History Month, there is no better time to focus on inclusive leadership. According to a Deloitte survey, 80% of over 1,300 respondents said inclusion efforts were significant when choosing a company. Furthermore, 74% of Millennials, currently the largest group in the workforce, believe that their organization is more Innovative when it has a culture of inclusion.
Inclusivity means not 'just we're allowed to be there, but we are valued. I've always said: smart teams will do amazing things, but truly diverse teams will do impossible things.
~ Claudia Brind-Woody
Inclusive leadership provides opportunities for organizations to increase active efforts to create a better workplace. Inclusion positively impacts business and the healthcare industry by offering access to high-quality connections for everyone while sharing ideas from different perspectives. Inclusive leadership drives innovation and affects things like lower administration fees, better access to care, and health equity, eliminating unnecessary barriers vulnerable populations face.
Inclusion is a core aspiration of Signature Performance, leading to greater access and more quality connections among Associates and the healthcare community.
Access ensures that our Associates can be seen for who they are, have their voice heard, and know their impact is felt throughout the organization. When Associates have access to development opportunities like mentorship, training and development, and other opportunities for exposure, their careers thrive. For example, Forbes reported that mentees are five times more likely to be promoted than those without a mentor, and mentors are six times more likely to be promoted than their coworkers. Furthermore, The American Society for Training and Development reports that companies that invest in training have a 24% higher profit margin.
Last year, Signature Performance enhanced our current focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) with an energized strategic plan designed to meet the needs of our ever-changing workforce. Our three areas of continued focus are Careers, Community, and Culture.
● Careers: We will intentionally attract and retain diverse talent from across the nation, ensuring we have the best and brightest talent.
● Community: Through outreach and engagement with local, regional, and national partners and community members, we will be a part of the work to create thriving places to live.
● Culture: We are committed to creating pathways of belonging for all Signature Associates while helping them to build an uncommon career in healthcare administration.
At Signature Performance, we aspire to create a second-to-none workforce to help reduce the rising costs and burdens associated with care. Momentum starts with a foundational belief that every voice matters and an intentional effort to ensure that all leaders appropriately value inclusion. This work requires leaders at Signature to be champions of belonging, leading to uncommon and meaningful career opportunities for all.
