Looking Back at 2021 on The Link

Even though our team is eager to see what 2022 has in store for the healthcare industry and our ever-growing team, we can’t help but reflect on everything we have learned and experienced this past year. 2021 has been a year of growth, adaptability, and perseverance for many. This year, everyone was able to witness the innovation of our healthcare system first-hand. As we watched our daily routines, work schedules, and sense of normal be challenged, our team at Signature recognized that human connection and experience was more important than ever before. It was important to our team to hone in on the importance of these areas not only internally, but also externally as the healthcare experience continues to evolve.

Our mission at Signature Performance has never been more important than it was this past year. Our industry experts have enjoyed sharing healthcare administrative industry trends, information, showcasing our Associate’s achievements, and celebrating important company milestones. With 30 published articles, it’s not a secret that we have been hard at work sparking connection and conversation in the healthcare administrative industry this past year. We wanted to ensure that our clients, partners, and Associates knew that we were all navigating these changes and building personal intersections together.

By conducting in-depth research and highlighting our industry experts on The Link, readers were receiving the latest industry information and could see first-hand how the work we are doing makes an impact within the ever-evolving industry of healthcare. The pandemic gave us an opportunity to reflect on where we are as an organization, reaffirm our values, and create new possibilities in healthcare.

Here is a look back at 15 of our most impactful thought leadership posts that were published in 2021 on The Link.

Businesses of every size had to reevaluate their priorities to navigate the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Many were forced to decide how their approach to company culture and engagement were going to be handled. Between the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, political climate, economy and unrest in communities, employee engagement in the workplace was fluctuating like never before. In this article, we reviewed how the investment in company culture became a key component to success this past year.

In 2021, the healthcare industry was on the cusp of innovative and transformative changes in a variety of ways for payers, providers, patients and the underlying support structures and solutions. In this article, we reviewed how creating effective ways to increase access to healthcare, advance research or improve patient safety and satisfaction are some of the ways innovation is playing a key role in improving the healthcare ecosystem.

With company culture on the forefront of many organization’s minds this past year, we shared four key elements that can help fill the gaps within a company’s approach to establishing a strong workplace culture based on Gallup industry research and in-house data that Signature Performance has collected over the last few years.

Signature Performance, Inc. was named a 2021 Best Places to Work in Omaha award recipient. This was the sixth time that Signature Performance has been recognized with this local distinction. This award recognizes Signature Performance’s commitment to cultivating Associate engagement, prioritizing professional development, and career satisfaction.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced the healthcare system in the United States to adapt in ways it has never had to before this past year. Despite COVID-19 causing much disruption this past year, it did highlight the benefits of telehealth and has only begun to show what is possible for providers, payers, and patients when innovative technology for patient care and experience is effectively implemented. In this article, we reviewed how the expansion of this digital approach has impacted access to care, coverage, and mitigating the spread of the virus.

Signature Performance was selected as a recipient of a 2021 Business Excellence Award in Leadership. This was the third time Signature has been honored with a Business Excellence Award from the Greater Omaha Chamber. This distinction recognized Signature Performance’s commitment to creating a company culture and professional development opportunities that are dedicated to helping Signature Associates reach their full potential as leaders.

Day-to-day operations for payers and providers were greatly impacted by the onset of the pandemic. Reimbursement rates and vulnerabilities within payment models were all heavily scrutinized based on what worked and what didn’t to address during the pandemic. In this article, we reviewed how negotiations between payers and providers will have a lot more to consider moving forward based on what was learned this past year as healthcare systems and communities recovered.

The high cost of healthcare and the fear of entering into medical debt has caused many families to delay medical care, especially this past year, to avoid receiving an unexpectedly high medical bill. In this article, we discussed how delaying care can have a drastic impact not only on an individual’s overall health outcome, but also on the cost of the treatment plan that may be required due to a delay in care.

During 2021, the healthcare industry was in a state of evolution like never before as recovery efforts from the pandemic continued. In this article, we asked our in-house industry experts what current healthcare trends they were seeing within the industry and which ones they felt would make a positive impact in the industry.

Healthcare has always been an industry of great innovation, with ever-evolving advancements in treatment options and technology. In this article, we reviewed how shifts in overarching societal norms, like the rise of consumerism (think Amazon Prime), have prompted healthcare providers to expand their focus on innovation to promote excellence in overall patient experience.

Signature Performance was named a 2021 VETS Indexes 3 Star Employer. This distinction recognized Signature’s commitment to recruiting, hiring, retaining, developing, and supporting Veteran Associates and others within the military-connected community. 2021 marked the first inaugural VETS Indexes Employer Awards ceremony.

The restrictions on elective, outpatient surgeries that were put in place for healthcare systems this past year in order to keep beds and operating rooms open delivered a hard blow to provider’s bottom lines. Despite the shift in how and where business was conducted in order to maintain safety protocols, we explored how it helped accelerate interest in financial investments and industry trends.

Everyone can relate to a time when they opened a medical bill and it took their breath away when you saw how much you owed. Where are those hidden costs coming from? Why is it so expensive? Despite the healthcare system in the United States being presumably one of the most advanced in the world, it is no secret that the cost of healthcare is a financial burden for many. This past year on The Link, we conducted our first-ever content series with our in-house industry experts and explored the complexity of healthcare in the U.S. for both providers and payers.

It is our purpose at Signature to not only deliver actionable solutions that enhance the healthcare industry, but to also provide an experience and one-of-a-kind solutions along the way that the industry has never seen before. In this article, we discussed why acquiring FedRAMP authorization is just another way that Signature Performance is streamlining the healthcare administrative experience in the Federal sector as we head into 2022.

At Signature, we understand that our Associates are a key component to our success and that advocacy for the organization’s mission doesn’t just happen overnight. In this article, we discussed that whether your organization is working on a proposal or strategizing talent acquisition efforts, your campaign and the messaging that fuels it is only as strong as the opinions of those who already work there.
